Pre & Post Sales Applications Engineer (Embedded Programming)
Exciting opportunity for an Applications Engineer with knowledge of x86 architecture, a good understanding of PCI , C and assembly languages, System administration using Linux and some knowledge of VME or CompactPCI bus architecture would be preferred.

Our highly successful and growing client is a world leader in the design and development and manufacture of high performance single board computer products based primarily for the VPX, VME, CompactPCI and MicroTCA system architectures. Their products are designed and developed totally in- house by teams in the UK and India using leading edge microprocessors and peripheral components. Telecommunications, military and aerospace markets are the main users of their products.
The Role:
Office-based in Colchester, Essex, you will provide support and act as technical contact for many of our customers world-wide. You will be involved in the following:
• Provision of demonstration and test programs based around our Pentium M and Dual Core Processor products.
• Testing and installation of several industry-standard operating systems.
• Provision of technical back-up to our marketing and sales force, both pre-sales and post-sales, and to generate appropriate supporting documentation
The Candidate:
Bachelor’s degree or HND level Engineering or Computer Science qualification preferred, with experience in at least four of the areas below:
• Knowledge of x86 architecture (ideally including a good understanding of PCI and PCI Express)
• C, and assembly languages
• System administration using Linux
• VxWorks, or other real-time operating systems
• Systems programming for Windows XP or Linux
• Embedded software development
• Knowledge of VME or CompactPCI bus architecture
The ability to communicate effectively with the company's customers at an engineering level, both verbally and in writing, is an important additional requirement as is the ability to work as part of a team.
