Coatings Technologist - Essex



Our client is a successful worldwide manufacturing company producing polymer based synthetic paper for multiple applications and delivered worldwide.



They are currently seeking to recruit an experienced technologist, ideally with some commercial experience to enhance their research and development function.



Job Description / responsibilities/ role of Coatings Technologist



• Be a Champion in the Development, Control and Improvements in Coatings for the whole business- Materials, Process, Test Methods and Regulatory requirements. Participate technically in the other areas especially in the field of Rosins and Polymers

• Manage and contribute to the ever expanding Technical Service requirements to the Production, Technical, Sales and Marketing group.



Expertise in management of all the necessary compliance needs in the following areas for all client sites related:

• ISO 9002

• FDA and EEC- Food compliance

• Patents



Improvements and technical development via Professional contact with:

All the sites

External testing and authorities bodies : PIRA, FDA, RAPRA, BSI, other external labs, etc



Participate, manage and contribute to the business efforts in the areas of:

New product and process development

Improvement of the existing products and processes

Grow and mange effectively Technical resources : people and other assets

Customer complaints resolution

Equipments: Brabender, Microscopy, many test methods

Print related test and support

Develop new test methods

Documentation of important methods and results emanating from all site, customers and other external bodies

Very good understanding of the basic fundamental science and especially expert in the Chemistry - more so Organic Chemistry.



Requirements:

Proactive and Self Motivated

Graduate in Chemistry, or equivalent qualification

Industrial experience

Sound knowledge of analytical methods,

Demonstrated problem solving skill

Team Player

Able to handle multiple projects and stress

Good Communications skill in all versions





The ideal candidate will have gained industrial experience in the following industries: flexography print, formulating coatings in modern technologies Indigo, Digital print, UV coating. This role requires a driven, dynamic, results focused individual who embraces routine travel, in order to provide the professional technical / development /commercially aware interface with new and current customers
